Sport NewsChelsea end City’s undefeated season, Villas-Boas refutes The Sun
In the spirit of the season, Chelsea gave their rivals some wonderful gifts with their 2-1 win over Manchester City. Man United got to see a team they already beat top their local rivals, who trounced them two months ago, and now sit just three points out of first place. Arsenal got to see a club that was undefeated through 14 matches lose their bid to repeat the Invincibles' achievement. And for Liverpool, Andre Villas-Boas dealt another blow to The Sun's credibility by denying their exclusive report that he ordered his players to celebrate their goals with him (which didn't happen after either goal Chelsea scored against Man City). No wonder "thanks Chelsea" was a trending topic on Twitter after the match. Said Villas-Boas in his post-match press conference (via Soccernet):
"Ha! And people think you're just like me," muttered Jose Mourinho from inside a laundry bin in the back. Between this long-awaited win over City and advancing to the knockout rounds of the Champions League in their previous match, Villas-Boas is gaining momentum in his bid to crouch over the heads of everyone who doubted him.
