City plot move for Milan star

Manchester City have rumoured to have begun talks to bring AC Milan's Clarence Seedorf to the club on a free transfer.

Reports today suggest the Eastlands outfit have opened preliminary talks with the 35-year-old, whose contract is up at the end of the season.

City boss Roberto Mancini is keen to add some Champions League experience to his squad in time for next season, with the club hopeful of securing their place in Europe's Premier club competition for the first time since 1968.

Seedorf certainly fits the bill in that respect, having made 117 Champions League appearances and remains the only player to win the competition with three different clubs.

However, when interviewed at the weekend the former Ajax and Real Madrid man refused to rule out the possibility of staying at the Rossoneri, saying: "I am hearing lots of rumours, but I am awaiting an offer from Milan as there are some concrete offers on the table from Brazil and other clubs. But I will firstly think about the Scudetto before my future."
