PARIS (AP)—French skier Ingrid Jacquemod has announced her retirement, ending a 15-year career marked by several World Cup podiums. The 32-year-old Jacquemod, a skier renowned for her technique but also a lack of self-confidence, posted her best results in the speed events. She won a World Cup downhill in 2005 in Santa Caterina, Italy, and had five other top-three finishes. Jacquemod told the French ski federation’s website that her passion for the sport is still alive but that she needs a break from competition. Jacquemod, who also competed at three Winter Olympics from 2002 to 2010, said she is “proud” and that she retires “with a blissful feeling.” Read more sport in Winter Sports |
