Grugger plans comeback after near-fatal crash (AP)

VIENNA (AP)—Austria’s Hans Grugger says he is working on his comeback as a World Cup ski racer four months after his near-fatal downhill crash in Kitzbuehel,

Grugger tells national radio station Oe3 on Sunday that he has “the will to race downhills and super-Gs again” but doesn’t know yet when he will return to the circuit.

“I should get completely fit first,” Grugger said. “I still have some problems with moving my left foot and with keeping my concentration.”

The 29-year-old Grugger smashed his head on the Streif course in training and landed motionless on the slope on Jan. 20. He underwent a five-hour emergency brain operation and was kept in an induced coma for 11 days.
