The construction of one of the most important Polish roads – the A4 motorway – will not be finished for the beginning of the 2012 European Football Cup.  On 23 February the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) announced the termination of the contract with the general contractor for the 20 kilometre section of the road, which connects the two host countries of EURO 2012.

The Directorate assures that the construction of the other parts of the road, on which more than 10 contractors are working, will be finished before the beginning of the Championship.

The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) is blaming everything on the general contractor for the Brzesko – Wecshoslavice section, which, despite the calls to speed up work, permitted many a lag of months in the realization of the project.
