PARK CITY, Utah (AP)—The U.S. Ski Team has promoted Forest Carey to oversee the men’s speed squad and brought in Roland Pfeifer to guide the women’s technical side. The coaching changes were announced Tuesday by program director Patrick Riml. Carey was in charge of the men’s Europa Cup squad last winter when Nolan Kasper won the slalom crown, becoming the first U.S. skier to win a title at that level since 1989. Among the skiers Carey will work with are Olympic medalists Bode Miller, Ted Ligety and Andrew Weibrecht. Pfeifer joins the women’s side after being the program director of the Vorarlberg ski team, a feeder program to the Austrian program. He will lead skiers such as Olympic gold medalists Lindsey Vonn and Julia Mancuso. Read more sport in Winter Sports |
