Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has admitted he cries occasionally like everyone else despite his hard man reputation.

The towering Serbian international is one of the most uncompromising characters in the Premier League, renowned for his tough tackling and robust defending, yet the 29-year-old claims he is prone to the occasional emotional moment.

Vidic claims he was nearly reduced to tears while watching the romantic film ‘The Notebook’, intimating the lavish cinematic tale starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams based on the book by Nicholas Sparks, touched him emotionally.

Vidic told United Review: “I know I have a reputation for being strong but I am only human,

"I cry during very sad moments.

"There was one film - The Notebook - that really touched me too.

"I was watching it alone, sitting in the dark, and I got very involved in the story.

"I almost cried. Almost."
